Over the summer Melinda went on a much needed vacation to the Aulani Resort and Spa (JELLY!!). Melinda spent eight days at the resort and got a chance to really explore a lot. So we are sharing some info about the resort because it’s Adventure Season if you are a DVC member, so your points will go far at the resort this time of year.

  1. Daily Activities: The resort offers tons of activities for kids, teens, andadults. Everyday a bulletin called The Daily is released at 7pm that lets you know what activities are available for the following day. Check out the Aulani website for a full list of all activities available at the resort. The Pau Hana Room hosts a majority of the activities that are available. Some of the activities include making Hawaiian Minnie Ears, Drawing Disney Characters, and learning how to play the ukulele.
  1. Adults Tip: Melinda went to Hawaii to celebrate being done with school and was slightly nervous that the resort would be geared towards kids. Boy was she wrong! There were some adult only pools, there were also tons of places to grab a drink, and best of all, there were tons of other Disney enthusiast over the age of 20!
  1. Dining: There are a handful of dining options at the resort, all of which are very interesting. By far, Melinda’s favorite was the ‘Ama ‘Ama. The food was amazing and the beach view seating was amazing (Check sunset times and make reservations around that time). The second major dinging option is Makahiki: The Bounty of the Islands. Makahiki  is a buffet style restaurant that has tons of options. If you make a reservation for breakfast, Disney characters will come by to your table. For the adults, Aluani has a nice bar called the The ‘Ōlelo Room. There are live musicians performing every night and the Korean-Style Chicken Wings are wonderful!
  1. Seeing Characters: Right outside of Melinda’s room was the Hawaii Lawn. Everyday, different characters would be outside to meet and greet guests. Melinda and I love meeting characters and are always so impressed with how they engage you in conversation. Well Aulani did not disappoint! You can meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto. A Trip to Hawaii would not be complete without seeing our favorite alien Stitch and Moana of Motunui. What was really cool was that guest could see Duffy and ShellieMay! These characters are exclusive to Hong Kong, so it was a great surprise to see them!!
  1. Art and Culture: The Aulani resort is infused with Hawaiian art and culture. As one cast member put it, Aulani is little “d” disney. When the resort was created, it was built with Hawaiian culture at the forefront. You can take an outdoor cultural tour to learn how murals and plants and a reflection of Hawaiian culture and history. The family can sit around a fire and  hear the stories of Maui and his fish hook. Or you can go off resort to dive into the natural beauty of Hawaii.
  1. BONUS-Hawiian Views:Hawaii has some amazing views! When the weather is clear, you can see the sun set over the rocks in the cove. If you are lucky enough to have a room on one of the higher floors overlooking the cove, you will have a great view all day long!
