Earlier this month, we took a trip to Downtown Disney to become Super Heroes. The VOID has a new VR experience: Avengers Damage Control, and we just had to try it out. This was my (Melinda’s) third time going to The VOID and Michaela’s first time.
1. Sign up: To find a location near you offering this experience, visit The VOID website. Avengers: Damage Control will be leaving Anaheim on November 22, 2019. The day that we went (a Sunday evening), people were being turned away because all the time slots had been booked. We definitely recommend making your reservations ahead of time to guarantee that you can get in.
2. The Premise: This VR adventure takes place after The Snap (aka “The Blip”). You and your party are initially on a tour to see Shuri’s latest prototype design of a new l new suit that combines Wakandian and Stark Industries technologies. Your tour is soon interrupted and you are off on an adventure to save the Earth. You team up with many of the Avengers including the Hulk, the Wasp, Ant-Man, and many more.
3. Suit Up: Taking part in the VR experience does require a bit of equipment. The standard equipment is a VR helmet and a giant pack on your back. You will need to make some adjustments to the helmet to make sure it is securely on your head and that the image is in focus. I HIGHLY recommend that you skip the up-do if you are participating in this experience. I wear glasses, and the helmet fits fine over them. However, if you have larger frames, this may pose a problem.
4. The Experience: It was a lot of fun being an Avenger for 45 minutes. After signing in and getting our wrist bands, we got to choose our suit make and color. The VOID does an excellent job creating an immersive experience; the change in temperature, different smells, and even things to touch. This particular experience was a little pricey in comparison to the ones I have been to in the past, but if you are a big fan of the Avengers, then it’s worth the money.
