Visiting Galaxy’s Edge

Now that Batuu is officially open to all, there are some tips we recommend for maximizing your time. We were lucky enough to go during the initial reservation time and even then we were still waiting in lines. There are a few things we could have done to better maximize our time, and Disney has taken it upon itself to modify things to improve the overall experience.

If you arrive at rope drop (right when the park opens) then you will most likely get into the land no problem. As of now you can enter near just past Big Thunder Mountain. If the planet reaches capacity, you will be given a boarding pass number. You can request a Boarding Group. When it’s your turn, you will get a push notification.

1. Visiting Oga’s Cantina- Once you arrive head over to get your name on the list for a call back. This place gets really packed and has a real bar vibe. The process for entering the cantina has been revised. Instead of you waiting in line, you leave your number and party number and they will text you back when it’s your turn. That way you don't have to waste time waiting in line and can enjoy Batuu.

2. Ordering food- I can not stress enough, use the Disney Parks app to order your food. Docking Bay 7, Ronto Roasters, and the Milk Stand all have Mobile ordering. Use the Disney app to order ahead of time to reduce the time you spend in line. Make sure you check the pick up times to ensure they align with when you will be visiting the planet. For example, when we went, our reservation started at 5 pm, but Milk pick up times were already at 6:00 pm.

3. Taking Pictures- The image scans (photos) are amazing!! The photo pass cast members must have had some training on how to take amazing actions shots. If you have any props (light sabers, blasters, droids, creatures) now is the time to shamelessly bring them out. You can also get a free souvenir, because the photo pass card is exclusive to that land.

4. Savi's Workshop (building your Lightsaber)- Batuu is moving away from forming a daily line to having visitors make a reservation to build their saber (removing long wait times). The reservations can only be made the same day.Reservations can be made through the Disney App or online prior to your visit. Hopefully pre-booking your saber experience will not conflict with the boarding process. I recommend booking an afternoon experience in case you can not get to Batuu first thing in the morning. The lightsaber cost about $200 + tax. Based on the website it doesn't look like you will be able to us your AP or DVC discount, but hopefully I am wrong.

5. Droid Depot- As of now, there is no reservation needed. If this is something you are interested in doing you will need to wait in line. This may be one of the things you head to fist upon landing on Batuu. Building a droid will set you back $100 + tax. If you are an AP holder or a DVC member these credentials will be recognized and your discount can be applied.
