Need A Place to Rest? (California Edition)

Parks

Let’s face it. The Disney Parks can be physically unforgiving. California has pretty mild temperature, but some days it can be extremely hot and on the rare occasions it rains, you may need a break from the outdoors. Not to mention the amount of walking you can do. We typically walk 15 miles when we visit both parks. It goes without saying that you may need to take a rest, especially if you are visiting the park with young children. Here is a list of cool places to take a breather.

Train- The train is a nice way to get off your feet because it takes you all around the park. There are four stops around the park (1) Main Street, (2) New Orleans Square, (3) Toontown, (4) Tomorrowland. The train is also a nice way to get from one part of the park to another without fighting through the crowds.

Monorail- The monorail is also a great way to take a break. The monorail will take you around Tomorrowland, outside the park, through part of California Adventure, and into Downtown Disney. You can choose to get off here, or stay on to go back to Disneyland. The Monorail is fun to go on during the day and at night.

Lincoln Theater- The Lincoln Theater is a perfect place to get off your feet in some air conditioned space. The theater has a lot of Disney artifacts and showcases the past, present and future plans for the park. The theater also hosts a variety of exhibits. For example, there was a display of movie props from the live action Aladdin movie. Not to mention, there is a short film showcasing American moments with Walt Disney’s idol, Abraham Lincoln. This is also a great place to catch a nap and charge your phone.

Mark Twain River Boat- Surprisingly, the River boat can be a great place to rest and to take a nap! If the boat is docked, you can board the boat and take a seat. The best time to try and take a nap would be right after the boat has come back from a trip around the Rivers of America. The lower deck of the boat get a nice wind tunnel breeze on the boats as well.

Animation Studio- This is our only venue in California Adventures. Besides quick service places, there are not very many places to sit and relax at this park. The Animation studio is home to the Animation Academy, Turtle Talk with Crush, the Sorcerer's Workshop, and Anna & Elsa's Royal Welcome. The main lobby also has a 360 degree screen that shows scenes and sketches from various Disney films along with an iconic song or score from the movie. It is definitely a great place to rest your feet or get out of the heat, but it is a difficult place to take a nap.
