D23 Light Up the Season

D23

So I finally caved and got a membership to D23. Mainly because I wanted to go to the D23 expo. After joining I realized there was a while bunch of events I can take my family to because we are members.

This particular event was a holiday party at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, CA. It ran from 4 to 8 pm. I went with Michaela and my husband Jon. We had no idea what we were walking into, so here are some of the highlights of the night.

1. Free Snacks: If you read our post we are all about free food. At this even cookies, popcorn, and hot coco were unlimited. Don't get too excited, because this is not Disneyland level snacks, but they did foster the Christmas spirit.

2. Access to the company store: Prior to arriving I did not understand how much of a big deal this is, but attendees get access to the Guest store and Employee store. When I say prices were affordable, I mean affordable! The only catch is that the lines are massive. I recommend making this the first stop and to go with a buddy. Each store has their own line and the line to pay will make Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious look short.

3. Eating in the cafeteria: Again, I was tragically under prepared for this event. There were tons if food options in the cafeteria and loads if dessert options. There were classic options like pizza and burgers as well as pot pies. There were also tons of Instagram-able desserts.

4. Photo Opportunity: Across the campus there were lots of backdrops to take photos in front of. I really liked the one from Mickey's Christmas Carol. There was also a chance to take a picture with various characters such as Mickey, Santa, and Goofy by the tree. There was also a line to take a picture next to the Walt/Mickey and the Roy/Minnie statue, complete with hat and scarf.

5. Fun and Games: Overall, the event felt like a community festival. There were lots of both for kids to play games, stations to do crafts, and carnival rides. There were also venders selling various items and a chance to watch Mickey's Christmas Carol in the studio theater.

Now that we know what to expect, I think I can have a better time next year. Hopefully you find this helpful if you attend with your family in the future.
